Kuwait Airways has announced that it has appointed Kamel Hasan Al Awadhi as the airline's new CEO, effective from next month.

The board of directors has promoted its deputy chief executive to lead the airline, taking over from Abdullah Al Sharhan, the carrier said in a tweet.

Al Awadhi began working at the airline in September 1999, rising up the ranks to become deputy chief executive in 2016.

Last month, the airline began operations at its new terminal four building at Kuwait International Airport and last week, Kuwait Airways signed an agreement with Airbus for an order of eight A330-800neo that will be delivered from 2019.

The fleet plan now includes the eight A330neos and five A350s, plus 10 Boeing 777s and 15 Airbus A320neo narrow-bodies.
